Rules for our helplines are simple. We are experts on houseplants. Specifically we are experienced growers and sellers and shippers of online houseplants.The emphasis here is on house and on plants. Uncle Henry's dying boxwood hedge is beyond our skill set. Also the rattle when you switch on the car isn't what we do.We can hazard a guess on car rattlings, but we only know about houseplants. So, send us your messages we are here!

To help you on this we would need a few facts from you. Here are some examples, all optional.

A description of the planned home setting for your plant.

A photo of the proposed setting in your home, if you can manage that. Which room is the planned location?
The purpose of the plant or the size of plant needed. Is it going on the floor or on your table? Are trying to reduce toxins in your home?

Your idea of your ballpark budget , including shipping costs.

Your pets and children.
​
Light levels throughout the year. Is it a sunny or dimly lit spot in your home?
Are you new to plant ownership or experienced and already living in a houseplant jungle?
Of course, you don't have to have an answer on all these topics, but a few answers really help us to help you.

For a small per plant fee, we will even go online, research plant options for your specific needs and provide you with our recommendations having checked with each seller on time zones, nursery credentials, feedback results, and pricing.

Online sales can go wrong
Emeritus Gardens is a family owned business now in a holding pattern due to a fairly long cancer treatment. We are delighted to offer this new houseplant helpline because we have so much to share. Many years of emails from customers have taught us that plants can bring joy, but they can also bring disappointment. A few of our customers received plants crushed in transit by USPS, or left on airstrip in the hot sun, or frozen in unheated delivery vehicles. As sellers, we understand disappointment so we simply shipped another plant. But we noticed increasingly that other online sellers had quite a different attitude to the replacement of damaged plants. On our help pages we can show you foolproof ways to make sure you get what you pay for in spite of transit damage. A living plant is what you ordered and always a living plant is what you deserve.
